Meet Elizabeth Nicholas- known to many as Liz, a seasoned professional with nearly 30 years of experience in the Health and Social Care industry. Liz’s journey has been marked by dedication, growth, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. From her early days as a Mental Health Nurse to her current role as an acclaimed Consultant specializing in Registrations and Compliance, Liz has continuously expanded her expertise and influence within the field.

Career

Early Career and Growth

Liz began her career as a trained and registered Mental Health Nurse, where she quickly distinguished herself in various specialties, including EMI Nursing, Eating Disorders, and Substance Misuse. Her exceptional skills and passion for care soon led her to a managerial role, where she oversaw care as a Registered Manager. Her leadership was further demonstrated when she managed several Residential Care facilities, facilitating the complex process of merging three Residential Care Homes into one while ensuring full compliance with CQC and local authorities.

Expanding Horizons

Never one to rest on her laurels, Liz sought to broaden her horizons beyond traditional care settings. She successfully managed a Day Centre for Older People and those with Mild Learning Disabilities, where she collaborated with local government, families, and outreach organizations. Her ability to fundraise and lobby for necessary resources further highlighted her multifaceted skill set.

Liz’s drive to make a difference led her to Sheltered Housing and Housing & Extra Care, where she managed tenures and liaised with local authorities and the DWP. Her advocacy for clients’ benefits and health needs showcased her commitment to holistic care.

Leadership and Management

Liz’s career trajectory continued to rise as she was appointed Head of Care for a Residential Home facility. In this role, she was responsible for the day-to-day operations, including managing care staff, laundry, and kitchen staff, while ensuring compliance across all sectors of the Home. Her comprehensive understanding of CQC regulations and her ability to lead teams effectively solidified her reputation as a trusted leader in the industry.
